Reeva vs Outlook
Outlook is Microsoft's consumer mail product, sitting alongside Microsoft 365 Personal, OneDrive and the Office apps. Reeva takes a different bet: build a privacy-respecting service on open standards — JMAP, IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV, CardDAV — so any client works natively and your data is never locked in. Here is how the two compare.

Outlook → Reeva: frequently asked questions
Why move from Outlook to Reeva?
Outlook ties your inbox to the Microsoft ecosystem — calendars, contacts and storage all use proprietary formats that lock you in, and the free tier serves ads. Reeva is built on open standards (JMAP, IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV, CardDAV) so you can take your data with you, with no ads and no content scanning at any tier.
Can I keep using Outlook (the desktop client) with Reeva?
Yes. Reeva is fully IMAP and SMTP compatible, so Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, K-9 Mail and any standards-compliant client will work. You can also pair Reeva with Microsoft's Outlook app on iOS / Android.
How do I migrate from Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 to Reeva?
Connect both accounts to Thunderbird (or any IMAP-capable client), then drag-and-drop folders from Outlook to Reeva. For Microsoft 365 Personal, export contacts and calendars as standard vCard and iCal files, then import them into Reeva.
Is Reeva cheaper than Microsoft 365 Personal?
Reeva paid plans start at $0.79 / month billed yearly and include encrypted mail, calendar, contacts, password vault and file cloud. Microsoft 365 Personal is $9.99 / month and bundles Office apps with 1 TB of OneDrive — different scope. If you only want mail + private cloud, Reeva is dramatically cheaper.
Do you scan my email or use it for ads?
No. Reeva has no advertising business at any tier. We do not scan inbox content, build profiles, or sell data.
